Are You YETI for Christmas? - MFT WSC 360

November 22, 2017

It's time for a new sketch challenge over at the MFT Challenge & Inspiration blog!

This weeks sketch was a little difficult for me... It took me for a while to decide what I'd use for those long and narrow rectangle elements. Here is my interpretation.

** All the supplies used are listed at the bottom of this blog post.
First I die cut a panel from Smooth White CS using the A2 Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics, then rounded the top left corner using the largest die from the Mod Rectangle STAX Die-namics.
I decided to use two trees from the Oh Christmas Trees stamp set for the rectangle elements. I also added a stenciled background using the Geometric Grid Stencil and Lemon Chiffon & Limelight Premium Dye inks.

This yeti originally holds a cup, but I had him hold a small present. :) The trees were embellished with some glitter glue and gold star sequins, and I also added several Ice Cube Mix Jewels to the background. The sentiment was white embossed on a Blu Raspberry panel cut with the Slanted Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

Stenciled Background & Spotlight Scene - MFT WSC 359

November 15, 2017

Today I'm sharing a card I made for this weeks MFT Wednesday Sketch Challenge (WSC 359).

To create my card, I was inspired by two cards - HERE (by Nichol Spohr) and HERE (by Michelle Short), both use stencils to create a background scene and pop up a part of the scene. It's a fun way to make a focal point without adding too many elements on your card.

I realized that this looked like a twin with a card I had shared HERE after I finished this card. Sorry for my poor creativity. But it's OK. You can see how today's technique works. Ha ha!

I created the snow hill and the ice on a piece of watercolor paper using the Drifts & Hills Stencil, Scattered Straw Distress Ink, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink, and Mini Ink Blending Tools. The Drifts & Hills Stencil is really versatile! I also stamped some snowflakes to the sky with Scattered Straw Distress Ink and added more falling snow with a white gel pen.

After inks dried, I cut out a part of the scene using the Inside & Out Stitched Rounded Square STAX Die-namics. Those double stitching lines work as a frame in this weeks sketch. I die cut three more stitched rounded squares from Blue Breeze CS, stacked them up, and adhered the inked piece on top.

I stamped, colored, and die cut the images, adhered them to the panel, and added the sentiment panel. I matted the inked panel with a panel of Biscotti CS and adhered to the card front. I added some Diamond Stickles to the hills and Glossy Accents to the hearts to finish off the card.

Linked Chain Wreaths

November 14, 2017

It's time for MFT Release Replay DT Challenge. Today the MFT DT is taking a fresh look at our most recent release with inspiring ideas and innovative takes on the complete collection. We love the opportunity to look at our products with fresh eyes, envisioning entirely new ways to showcase the possibilities they present!

I created Christmas wreaths using the Linked Chain Circle Frames Die-namics. I heard that this Die-namics had sold out so quickly and so many people were still waiting for it to arrive. I don't intend to make you envious. I just had gotten these projects ready before the release day.

To create my wreath, I die cut out two frames from Green-Eyed Monster CS and one from Sour Apple CS. I layered the Green-Eyed Monster frames and inlaid the interior pieces from the Sour Apple frame. I embellished it with a bow and some sequins.
I put the die-cut trees into the inside of my frame and added faux snow with Gloss White Crystal Drops.
As I wanted to hang my wreath on a wooden door, I stamped a piece of Kraft CS with the Wood Plank Background stamp, cut it with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, and added the stitching lines using the Inside & Out Stitched Square STAX and Inside & Out Stitched Rectangle STAX Die-namics to create a faux door molding (trim?) look.
The sentiment is from the Snow Globe Sentiments stamp set and it was stamped on a banner cut with the Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips Die-namics.

I also created a coordinated tag using the Tag Builder Blueprints 5 Die-namics.

New Best Friend - MFT November New Product Launch

I have one more card to share with you today, which uses the New Best Friend stamp set & Die-namics, Linked Chain Circle Frames Die-namics, and Let It Snowflake Too Die-namics from the release.

I started my card with a piece of watercolor paper. I made a loose watercolor wash background using Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Inks and added some ink spatters. After inks dried, I cut it with the largest die from the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics, stamped the sentiment with Hot Fudge Premium Dye ink, and matted it with a panel of Tickled Pink CS.

The frame and the snowflakes were die cut out from Smooth White CS. After I adhered them to the background panel, I adhered the images with Thin 3D Foam Squares. I also added several sequins to finish off the card.

My card for today uses the beautiful Layered Snowflakes Die-namics and the Let's Cuddle stamp set.

I made my own plaid pattern paper using the Triple Stripe Background stamp and a white gel pen. I cut a panel from Cherry Crisp CS using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 2 Die-namics and stamped it with the Triple Stripe Background using Black Licorice Premium Dye ink. Then I rotated the panel 90 degrees and stamped the same pattern again. I added white lines with a gel pen after ink dried. I love that this pattern reminds me of a warm blanket, and I thought it would be a good match to the sentiment. :)

My snowflakes were cut from Smooth White CS. I embellished them with Metallic Silver Sequins.

MFT November Release Countdown Day 3

November 5, 2017

Welcome to Day 3 of the MFT November Release Countdown!

Today I have a set of three CAS cards to share with you that feature the Friends in the Forest stamp set & Die-namics.

For each card, I sponged a little In the Buff ink using the Drifts & Hills stencil and a sponge dauber to create a hill, stamped the trees and sentiment (Ink colors I used are listed at the bottom of this blog post.), adhered the image, then added some Champagne Stickles around the trees to add a little sparkle. The images were stamped on X-Press It Blending Card with Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, and colored with Copic Markers. I kept my coloring very simple so that they would match with the CAS design.

The new products will be available for purchase on November 7 at 9:00 pm EST.

MFT November Release Countdown Day 4

November 4, 2017

Welcome to Day 4 of the MFT November Release Countdown! Today I'm introducing you my new stamp set & Die-namics, New Best Friend.

Do you prefer cats or dogs, or both? The New Best Friend stamp set will cover all of you! You may know someone who adopts new pets. Celebrate her/his new best friend with your handmade card using this stamp set. :)

My card for today features the cats from the set.
I created my background using the Small Brick Wall Stencil and In the Buff & Latte Premium Dye inks, then added a Classic Window cut from Cherry Wood Adhesive-backed paper.
I added a border of grass cut with the Grassy Fields Die-namics and drew some little flowers using a white gel pen and English Mustard Crystal Drops.
After I stamped the sentiment with Hot Fudge Premium Dye ink, I adhered the girl and the cat images. Is there a cat that doesn't like sitting on a window sill? :D

I'd like to share a speed coloring video for this stamp set. The Copic colors used are listed in the video. To watch the video on YouTube, click HERE.

MFT November Release Countdown Day 5

November 3, 2017

Make sure you stop by the MFT blog everyday for next five days to see the full reveal of the new products, and don't forget to leave a comment there for your chance to win a prize!

My card for today features the You Make My Heart Melt stamp set and Die-namics.

I'm totally in love with this stamp set. All the images are super adorable and I especially love those tiny ice skates for the owl. Really CUTE!!

To create my background panel, I cut a panel from In the Buff CS with the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 Die-namics, stamped the snowflakes with Biscotti Premium Dye ink, and added some falling snow with a white gel pen.

Then I cut a panel of Smooth White using the A2 Stitched Rectangle STAX Set 1 and the Stitched Snow Drifts Die-namics, and cut out a pond from it using the You Make My Heart Melt Die-namics. I sponged around the edges of the cut out piece with Berrylicious Premium Dye ink, added some highlights with a white gel pen, and stamped a trail. I covered the pond with Glossy Accents after I inlaid it into the panel.
The sentiment was white embossed on a Wild Cherry panel cut with the Essential Speech Bubbles Die-namics. I embellished the stamped snowflakes with a little bit Silver Moondust Glitter Drops to finish off the card.
